Inframammary Incision

The inframammary technique is one of the most common and involves inserting the implant under the breast through the skin fold where the breast and chest connect. This results in no visible scarring while standing, as the breast tissue covers the incision.

Transumbilical Incision

This technique involves inserting the breast implant through an incision in the navel and then adjusting it in the breast pocket. No incisions are made in the breast; this option only works for some types of saline implants.

Transaxillary Incision

The transaxillary method involves inserting implants through an incision in the upper breast, next to the fold of the armpit. The incision is almost invisible, even when the arm is raised.

Periareolar Incision

Periareolar is when the incisions are made around the areola, which results in no visible scars. This technique is used if the implants are placed over the chest muscle.

That Day

Expect to be somewhat groggy as the anesthesia wears off. Light showering may be possible 48 hours after surgery.

Following Days

Take short walks to promote mobility, preventing blood clots and complications. Aim for getting up at least five times a day.

One Week Post-Op

The soft compression band can be removed. Most patients return to work, but physically demanding jobs may require additional recovery time.
