Breast Lift Benefits

Decreased Breast Size

Oversized breasts can make you feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. With breast reduction, you can reduce your breast size, bringing them in harmony with your body.

Improved Posture

The weight of large breasts can lead to poor posture, causing neck and back pain. Breast reduction surgery can help correct your posture by lightening the load.

Lift and Lighten

Over time, breasts tend to sag due to their weight. Breast reduction surgery can lift and lighten your breasts, restoring a firmer and youthful appearance.

Pain Relief

Chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain is a common complaint for women with overly large breasts. By removing excess breast tissue, you can find relief from this discomfort.

Proportionate and Attractive Breasts

Achieve a more proportionate, attractive breast shape that complements your overall aesthetics.

Minimize Skin Irritation

Large breasts often result in skin irritation and rashes. Breast reduction can alleviate this issue, giving you more comfortable, irritation-free skin.

Enhanced Physical Activity

You can engage in physical activities more comfortably with smaller, lighter breasts. Running, exercise, and everyday movements become easier.

Better Wardrobe Options

Finding bras and swimsuits that fit well can be a frustrating experience with oversized breasts. Breast reduction opens up a world of clothing options that were previously unavailable to you.

Is a Breast Reduction for You?

Genetic factors largely determine breast size, and even with a healthy lifestyle, breast tissue doesn't naturally reduce. You may be a candidate for breast reduction surgery in Scottsdale with our team if you experience:

Daily discomfort and limitations on your activities
Shoulder pain and bra strap indentations
Persistent back pain and poor posture
Difficulty finding well-fitting clothing

Choose Your Incision

The specific incision pattern used depends on your unique anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Anchor Incision

This involves tracing an incision around the areola, extending vertically down to the breast crease and horizontally along the crease. It's typically used for more extensive reductions.

Lollipop Incision

This combines a circular incision around the areola with a vertical incision down to the breast crease. It's ideal for moderate reductions.

Donut Incision

A circular incision around the areola is made for less extensive breast reductions, leaving fewer scars.

After surgery, you'll be monitored in a recovery room by medical staff. You may experience some pain, swelling, and discomfort, but you'll be provided pain medication and instructions for incision and bandage care.

Following Days

Rest and avoid strenuous activities in the days following surgery. Bruising and swelling can be managed with ice packs and pain medication. You'll wear a surgical bra or compression garment for added support and reduced swelling.

One Week

You'll have a follow-up appointment to check your healing progress and have any stitches or drains removed. While you may return to light activities, avoid strenuous ones.

Two Weeks

Continue avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise, but you can start to return to work and normal activities. Your breasts may still be swollen and tender but should begin to feel more comfortable.

Six Weeks

Most normal activities, including exercise and lifting, can resume. Your breasts should be settling into their new shape and size at this point.

Three Months

Your breasts should be fully healed, with any remaining swelling or discomfort fading.

Six Months

At this point, your breasts should be fully healed, and you can enjoy the full benefits of your breast reduction surgery, including improved comfort, mobility, and self-confidence.

Is breast reduction surgery safe?

Breast reduction is generally safe when performed by a qualified surgeon. However, as with any surgery, risks are involved, such as infection, bleeding, scarring, and changes in nipple sensation. Discuss potential risks and benefits with your surgeon.

How do I choose the best breast reduction surgeon?

Choose a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in breast reduction surgeries. Recommendations from friends or family with similar procedures can also be helpful.

Can I breastfeed after a breast reduction?

Breastfeeding after reduction surgery is possible but can be challenging. Discuss your goals and limitations with your surgeon during your consultation.

How do I prepare for my surgery?

Follow your surgeon's specific instructions, including quitting smoking, avoiding certain medications and supplements, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and undergoing pre-operative tests. Arrange for someone to drive you home after the surgery.

How long is recovery after breast reduction surgery?

Recovery after breast reduction surgery takes about six weeks before most normal activities, including exercise and lifting, can resume. Most patients begin returning to work and daily routines around two weeks after surgery. Swelling and tenderness continue to fade, and breasts are typically fully healed between three and six months. Dr. Lehrman's team schedules a follow-up visit at one week to check healing and remove any stitches or drains.

Will I have scars after breast reduction surgery?

Yes, breast reduction surgery leaves scars, but they fade over time. The scar pattern depends on the incision used: anchor, lollipop, or donut. Anchor incisions are typically used for more extensive reductions, lollipop incisions for moderate reductions, and donut incisions for smaller reductions with fewer scars. Dr. Lehrman will recommend the incision that fits your anatomy and goals during your consultation.
