The joys of motherhood – no life activity is as rewarding as raising a child. Unfortunately, pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding often damages the female body. While some women are genetically programmed to snap back into shape, this is quite rare. More commonly women are faced with saggy breasts, stretched skin on the abdomen, stretch marks, and stubborn pockets of fat. That’s when a mommy makeover could be the perfect solution.
What is a Mommy Makeover?
A “mommy makeover” is essentially just a term for a set of cosmetic procedures to restore the body after pregnancy and breastfeeding have taken a toll. While it is customized to meet the needs of the individual patient, our mommy makeover in Seattle frequently includes one of more of these surgical procedures:
- Breast lift
- Breast augmentation
- Tummy tuck
- Body sculpting

Am I a Candidate?
If you are one of the countless women who is dismayed with the condition of your body after having children, you are not alone. While some women are lucky enough to have their bodies return to the firm, fit look they enjoyed prior to pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is far more common for women to experience stretch marks, breasts that now droop, sag, or look deflated, and a stretched or split looking abdomen. All of these aesthetic issues can be fully resolved with a custom mommy makeover. If you are at a healthy weight, and in good health, you are likely a good candidate for this body-restoring procedure.
What is the Cost of a Mommy Makeover?
As a mommy makeover is actually a set of procedures, customized to match the needs of the individual, the cost can vary. Several procedures can be performed in one surgical appointment, providing savings on the cost of anesthesia. For a custom quote, we invite you to visit with us, so we can evaluate the various issues you want to correct and provide you with an accurate quote. We do all we can to make it possible for you to get the body-restoring procedure you want, including offering various financing options.
Recovery
A mommy makeover will require several weeks of recovery, as it involves major surgery, typically both a tummy tuck and corrections performed on the breasts, whether a breast lift, breast augmentation, or both. When planning your journey to restoring your pre-baby body, it is advised that enlist the help of a friend or family member to assist you during the early stages of recovery.
You will need to rest and take it easy while your body heals, slowly increasing your activities, while avoiding vigorous physical motions following your mommy makeover in Seattle. At Athenix, we carefully monitor our mommy makeover patients during the recovery process to ensure all is proceeding as it should. If you work, plan on taking two weeks off, although some women feel strong enough to return earlier.
Mommy Makeover FAQ
If you are considering a mommy makeover, it is likely that you have many questions. We are always available for an in-person, private consultation to answer your individual questions, but have answered some common questions we are asked about the procedure.
What is the initial consultation at Athenix like?
At Athenix, we believe that our patients deserve the highest level of professionalism in treatment, along with open and free communication. In your consultation we will listen to your concerns, evaluate the various body areas that bother you, and answer all of your questions about what will be necessary to restore your body. We won’t rush you through the process – it is an important decision, and we respect that. We will also evaluate your medical history to ensure you are in a healthy condition and safe to undergo surgery.
Will a mommy makeover be able to restore my breasts?
Yes. One of the most commonly damaged body areas women struggle with is the breasts. Breastfeeding can leave them looking saggy or deflated, as the skin has been stretched by milk production. Once the breastfeeding is over, the milk-producing glands shrink back, but the skin often cannot. A breast lift can restore a firm, rounded, youthful look to your breasts. If you have lost significant volume (not rare), an augmentation can be performed at the same time.
How can my abdomen be repaired?
A mommy makeover typically includes a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty. This procedure removes excess skin, repairs loose muscles, and restores the tight, firm look to your tummy zone. Rather than feeling like you need to wear loose tops to hide your abdomen, you will once again be able to wear tight clothing with total confidence. Your entire tummy area will be addressed, and for many women with stretch marks on the lower area, these will be wholly or partially removed.
Can I have more children after a mommy makeover?
It is advised that you plan your mommy makeover after you are done having children. While you certainly can have children following the procedure, it poses of risk of leaving you with the same issues you had after an earlier pregnancy, with stretched skin, etc.
Will I have scars after a mommy makeover?
As you will be undergoing a surgery, incisions are required to correct the areas of concern. These incisions do leave scars, but they are carefully placed so that they are hidden beneath even the most revealing clothing, including swimming suits, lingerie, plunging necklines, or tummy-revealing styles.
What can I expect after a tummy tuck?
You will need time to recover, which varies, based upon the number of procedures performed. You will be able to return to your home after your surgery but should plan to have help from a friend or family member for the first few days. Some patients may require an overnight stay to ensure health and safety, but this is less common.
