A donut mastopexy is a minimal-scar breast lift designed to correct mild sagging and resize the areola. At Athēnix in Brentwood, Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Dan Yamini performs this refined technique to create a subtly lifted, natural-looking breast contour.
What Is a Donut Mastopexy?
A donut mastopexy, also known as a periareolar breast lift, is a minimal-scar technique designed to correct mild breast sagging. The procedure involves removing a circular segment of skin around the areola and tightening the surrounding tissue to slightly elevate the nipple-areola complex.
Unlike traditional lift techniques such as the vertical “lollipop” lift or anchor lift, the donut mastopexy limits the incision to the border of the areola. This allows for modest lifting and reshaping while keeping visible scarring confined to the natural transition between the areola and surrounding skin.
In appropriate candidates, this technique can also reduce enlarged areolas and may be combined with breast implants to enhance volume while improving position.
